Our dance class dress code provides guidance and requirements for class attire and dance shoes. Please refer to each dance class’s dress code in the chart below. 

 

We recommend that you discuss with your dance instructor before purchasing specialty items, such as specific dance shoes (such as pointe/ballet), to ensure you are buying the proper shoes or attire.

DANCE CLASS DRESS CODE PER DANCE CLASS & DANCE STYLE

GENERAL DANCE CLASS DRESS CODE:

Leotard, tights, dance shorts, or dance pants. Clothing must be snug-fitting. Male dancers should wear clothing that fits snugly.

Hair must be pulled back and/or secured neatly, and long hair should be fully secured to ensure uninhibited movement. Bandanas should be worn for hair that may block eyesight or hangs on the face.

No loose clothing or street attire may be worn inside dance class. 

 

 

ELEMENTARY BALLET

Any pink skirted leotard, pink ballet tights, and canvas stretch ballet shoes. 

All hair pulled back away from face and neck.

BALLET 1

Lilac-colored leotard (skirts allowed), pink ballet tights, and split sole canvas stretch ballet shoes.

All hair pulled back away from face and neck.

BALLET 2

Soft blue leotard (skirts allowed), pink tights, split sole canvas stretch ballet shoes.

POINTE BALLET

Any leotard and pink tights. Please see the instructor to get fitted for pointe shoes.

TAP BEGINNERS

Any color leotard, leggings/tights/shorts, and easy-on tap shoes.

TAP INTERMEDIATE

Any color leotard, leggings/tights/shorts, and Capezio tap shoes. Please see the instructor for ordering.

TAP ADVANCED

Any color leotard, leggings/tights/shorts, and Bloch Oxford tap shoes. Please see the instructor for ordering.

JAZZ INTERMEDIATE AND ADVANCED

Flexible dancewear to include crop shirts, leotards, tights, shorts, split sole stretch slip-on jazz shoes.

CONTEMPORARY

Any color leotard with pink ballet tights, shorts/tank over leotard okay.

ACRO

Unitard and footless pink tights. Boys can wear shorts and a shirt. All hair pulled back away from face and neck.

COMBO (ALL)

Black leotard, pink ballet tights. Both: split sole stretch slip-on jazz shoes, tap shoes.  All hair pulled back away from face and neck.

HIP-HOP

Free Flowing dance clothes. Clean, no scuff sneakers only to be worn in the studio.

AFRO CARIBBEAN
